Adult Craft-Gourd Birdhouses(Sunday group)

We’re making birdhouses out of dried gourds! Thanks to a couple of generous donations, we have lots of gourds to go around, so we’ll have a group on Sunday for those that wanted to participate but couldn’t make the Wednesday time.

Any extra gourds that we have leftover, we’ll be painting to try to sell at our Junkfest booth on Oct. 8. So even if you are coming one day to make your own, if you’d like to come by the library the other day (or any time we’re open!) and make one to sell, that would be amazing!

It’s Summer Reading Time!

People of all ages (babies to adults!) are invited to participate in our Summer Reading Program here at the Nortonville Public Library. During the program, we have activities most days. We offer programming for all ages, including teens (going into the 6th grade or older). Sign up for reading prizes begins on Friday, June 4, 2021. You must be signed up for your reading to count but you can sign up anytime during the program. Books read after June 4 will count. For every 5 books or 500 pages read, readers get one entry into the grand prize drawing and pick one item from the prize case. However, this year we have additional reading options!

For our readers of all ages that can’t read yet, don’t enjoy reading as much, or have difficulty reading, we have activity logs to fill. We don’t want to pressure you to read, we want you to enjoy it!

We’ve seen a lot of changes at the library this year! If you’ve visited recently, you may have noticed some new paint on the walls and new carpet on the floors. We’ve also rearranged furniture and shelves, making room for a comfy sitting area for teens and kids, and replaced our old printer with a new one for patrons to scan, print, and copy from. Last year was rough for everyone, but we hope you feel comfortable coming to see us and participating in all of the fun things we have planned for the summer. See you soon!
