Our summer reading schedule is finalized! The theme this year is Imagine Your Story and we’re very excited. The paper schedules will be mailed to everyone with a Nortonville address is the next day or so, but we’ll also have extras at the post office and the library. We’ve got a lot going on this summer, so we hope to see you here!

June 2, Friday, 2pm and June 3, Saturday, 9am: Summer Reading Kick-Off. We will have treats, reveal grand prizes, learn about upcoming events and more. Sign up for the program begins on these days, but you may do so later. All ages.
June 6, Tuesday, 10am: Storytime-Paper Bag Princess! This event combines song, movement, stories and a treat. Younger Children.
June 7, Wednesday, 1pm: Writing Workshop and Author Talk. Helen Dunlap Newton will be talking about her books and her writing process, and then will lead a writing workshop. Teens (6th grade and up).
June 8, Thursday, 3pm: Paper Bag Books. Create and decorate your own book using all kinds of supplies. All ages.
June 9, Friday, 4pm: Teen and Young Adult Life Skills, Finance (Part 1). Teens and young adults (age 13+) will learn valuable life skills in this weekly “class.” They’ll learn how to budget, write checks, balance a checking account, etc. Each month there will be a new topic, and those that attend the sessions for each topic will earn a reward.
June 13, Tuesday, 10am, Storytime: Father’s Day Celebration. Join us for stories, songs, art and treats. Younger Children.
June 13, Tuesday, 3pm: Book Nooks. We’ll begin creating a miniature house, storefront, or scene to fit on a shelf. If extra time is needed, we’ll also work on them Wednesday, June 14. Teens (6th grade and up).
June 15, Thursday, 3pm: Clothespin Fairies. We’ll make girl or boy fairies with clothespins, flowers, leaves, etc. All ages.
June 15, Thursday, 6:30 pm: Butterfly Feeder/ Bird Baths. We are going to make butterfly or bird baths for the garden, using pots and saucers. Adults (18+).

July 6, Thursday, 3pm: Fairy Gardens. We’re using clay pots, teacups, (popsicle sticks for the younger kids) and other supplies to make our own fairy gardens and houses. All ages.

July 14, Friday, 3:45pm: Atlas Education Reptile Presentation. Learn all about lizards, snakes, turtles, and arachnids while seeing them in person and touching them (if you choose!). Children must be accompanied by an adult and there are two short waivers to sign before the program starts. All ages.
July 18, Tuesday, 10am, Storytime: Jack and the Beanstalk. Includes stories, crafts, and treats. Younger Children.
July 18, Tuesday, 2pm: Escape Room. Let’s use our brains to try to escape from the enchanted forest. Will we get out in time?? Teens (6th grade and up).

July 27, Thursday, 3pm: Magical Wands and Swords. We’re going to construct our own magical wands or play swords. All ages.
July 28, Friday: Tie Dye and Grand Prize Extravaganza.
1pm: T-Shirt Tie Dyeing. Make sure to wear older clothes because you might get messy. We provide the shirts and all the supplies! Afterwards, we’ll have refreshments and fun.
3pm: Teen Prize Auction. Bring your book bucks in (or fill out a bidding sheet ahead of time to have someone else bid in your absence) and bid on the big prizes just for our teens.
4pm: Grand Prize Giveaway. Kids and adults, be sure to come see if you’ve won any of our grand prizes! (You do not have to be present to win).
